Skills

  • Coastal: several weeks of coastal cruising in NY, VT, FL, MD, CA, VA. Also, the BVI.
  • Offshore: over 850 miles of offshore work from Ft. Myers, FL, to Hilton Head, SC. This includes cooking, watch-keeping and emergency repairs at sea. The lower starboard shroud started to unravel.
  • Skipper: Coastal cruising and day sailing in lakes, Chesapeake Bay, San Diego Bay, San Francisco Bay, Tampa Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, and British Virgin Islands.
  • Navigation: some off-shore navigation, GPS only.
  • Pilot: Good coastal piloting including plotting DR positions and fixes using a variety of navigation aids including charts, GPS and lines of position.
  • Anchoring: Can drop and retrieve anchor in variety of holding conditions.
  • Docking: Can dock both forward and reverse in light current and wind.
  • Mooring: Can pick up moorings under sail or power; can leave moorings under power.
