Warm and pleasant. Went North a bit, turned and tried to go precisely south, but flat bottom made it hard to find a path. Dropped dive flag. Tried to find anchor. Got lost, recognized a particular stump–proof that I was traveling in circles. Ascended, 50’ from boat. Recovered flag and went on board. |

Patch? Cold? Pursue cold, wear 3mm suit for double dives, even in tropics. Large grunts, school of Chromis, baby shrimp. Saw CAB materialize in distance, who came separately with Mike Myers. |

|
Top-flight dive! Saw Ossehanta, didn’t get lost, didn’t lose buddy, buddy ran out of air first (surfaced 50 yds from boat with 500 psi). Was toasty warm, and didn’t murk up the bottom. |
| 28 | 07/08/95 | Shoals (N of Diamon Island) Lk. George | 3000 1300 | 03:10:00 PM | 03:55:00 PM | 60 | 58W 70A |

Waited for a long time (15-20 min.) at surface before starting descent. Got seriously tangled in flag line, had to be rescued. Saw many dead crawdads on bottom. Then found the dropped bait bucket. Also, some steamboat parts. 20# was too light at surface, but good at depth. Took some work to start descent. |
| 29 | 07/08/95 | S of Diamond Island, Lk. George | 3000 1300 | 04:35:00 PM | 05:21:00 PM | 35 | 65W 70A | G - I | Bass & Bluegill! Wrecked yacht. Followed wall on course of 350 out and 170 back. No flag, no tangle! Found 8# trolling weight plus some attachments. Lost control of bouyancy once and drifted up to surface. Otherwise, good control. |
| 30 | 07/19/95 | Red Hook Cove | 2100 500 | 07:42:00 PM | 08:22:00 PM | 70 | 60W 80A |
|
Bob was hasty, I took it slow due to some residual pain from ear infection. Tried to go N, looking for legenday swim-through. Bob turned W by accident. I went back E until we got into deep water (we were at 60’ with no visible bottom). VERY COLD. I lost bouyancy control for a while–the two-hand Valsalva is not compatible with operating the power inflator. Went S and came up to more reasonable digs. Surfaced within 50’ of boat due to blind, dumb luck. |
| 31 | 07/27/95 | Isle of Shoals, Maine | 2900 1700 | 10:25:00 AM | 11:10:00 AM | 20 | 65W 80A |
|
Crabs, Lobsters, Baby Tunny, Starfish, Anemone. Supposed to see seals, but went wrong way and didn’t allow for set of current. Course made good was way off. Poor Richie swam all that way and ran out of air and didn’t see seals either. Vis. was excellent! Knife sheath broke. |

|
Dropped my #@!%$ dive light. 3mm just a little to light for such a long dive at that temp. Below thermocline (about 30’) very chilly. Above ‘cline very nice. Found bottles, found small wreck, many bass fingerlings. 1st rate dive. Barb Walter found my light. |
| 34 | 08/13/95 | Roger’s Rock Picnic Area | 2200 1500 | 06:36:00 AM | 07:15:00 AM | 15 | 70W 80A |

Buddy claims to have seen big purcupine fish. Should have done depth/time plan : 40’:115 min., 50’:51 min, 60’:43 min, 70’:23 min. Should have put floor at 40’, if I slipped over to 50’, I would have been fine. |

Poor depth control. 60’ limit means stop sinking at 50’! Slipping past 60’ should have reduced length of dive significantly. Second over-limits dive in 2 days! |

Flag tangle problems! Flag got entwined with another buddy team. When we were ready to return, had to surface to untie the flags. Tried to return to depth, but we were so far from shore that we couldn’t see the bottom when we were at 20’ and had trouble keeping depth and a straight course. |
